Initiatives
New challenges of digital scholarly communication are often tackled and achieved by initiatives orriginating from academic institutions. Co-operation between these initiatives are thus a necessary condition for successful implementation of innovation in a broader context.
DiPP already co-operates with other initiatives for jointly achieving goals in improving scholarly communication, e.g. with GMS und GAPworks). Co-operation is not limited to technological and organizational aspects -- for example, the DiPP-Licences (DPPL) can be applied by anyone. Moreover, developing and establishing policies or standards for communication, publishing, archiving and distribution in science and humanities are important tasks that demand close collaboration between initiatives.
